A Church with a Heart for our Community

February 9th Tuesday

Greetings you…the One who God sees, the one who God knows, the one who God believes in…in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a beautiful winter morning! Wasn’t it kind of God to put a dusting of fresh white snow over the landscape? Surely, this must be the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you had a grand weekend with a few special blessings that made you smile…your team won the Super Bowl or on Hockey Night in Canada or a positive conversation with someone – something that warmed your heart so that you knew God was watching. This morning I am praying for you, asking Father to bless you and keep you – today, to smile upon you and gift you – today, to look you full in the face – today, and to make you prosper – today.

One of my favorite verses has made several appearances this past week or so – here it is: For my thoughts about mercy  are not like your thoughts,  and my ways are different from yours. As high as the heavens are above the earth, so my ways and my thoughts are higher than yours. Isaiah 55:8-9  TPT. As I pondered it, I thought a chorus that we sing…O what a mystery-Meekness and majesty-Bow down and worship-For He is your God … Graham Kendrick. I appreciate the use of the word “mystery” to describe an aspect of God’s character for as much as we come to know God and understand His ways…He is a mystery.

God’s word makes his declaration: God conceals the revelation of his word in the hiding place of his glory. But the honor of kings is revealed by how they thoroughly search out the deeper meaning of all that God says. Proverbs 25:2  TPT.  I believe that “mystery” should be an ongoing facet of our spiritual life. I try to approach God’s Word and the teachings of faith with the understanding that I should have more questions than answers! I appreciate when God’s Word speaks of the fear of the Lord or being filled with awe and wonder.

I believe that it is beneficial to us to walk away from encounters with God or from times of worship when God’s presence is made manifest…scratching our heads trying to figure out what happened and yet feeling at peace with not knowing.. I might go so far as to say that one of the most precious gifts that God gives us is the one called “mystery” for it leads us into a moment of standing on “holy ground” knowing that God was in this place and “surprise!” – I didn’t even know this was possible. Someone once said that if you can figure out what just happened…chances are it wasn’t God…and if you can figure out, you proably don’t need God.

Something to think about — be blessed!
