A Church with a Heart for our Community

February 5th Friday

Greetings to you in the wonderful, beautiful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a wintry day we have…but it is still the day that the Lord has made and we will rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you have had a good week with a mixture of blessings and divine interruptions and  encouraging conversations with family/friends and quiet moments with just God and you. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to fill your heart with a peace that doesn’t make sense and release joy that gives you a strength that you were not aware of and an “amazing grace” that allows you get through each day with its challenges.

One of the blessings that I have been enjoying is extra time to read and study and…”ponder!” I really enjoy my devotion time and have my own little routine. God always seems to make His presence known to me, for which I am truly thankful, but there are times when He is “really there with me”…when Scripture comes alive and devotional readings seem written just for me. I am trusting that you have many of those times as well.

This morning was one of “those” mornings and I want to share a few sentences that I read. So here we are:…you have been offered the same chance–to know what few others know, to encounter Him (Jesus) in ways no one else has. There’s no limit, no restriction on how close to the Lord you can be. Take the most incredible testimony of encountering Jesus and press in to discover  even greater things for yourself.  Prayer: Jesus, I’m not satisfied with hearing about what other people have experienced or what others have heard from you. I want to know you for myself. I want to see the One I read about. I want to experience the reality of you with me, right now. – Brian Simmons and Gretchen Rodriguez, Ever Present Love.

I read that and thought to myself…”Self, what great way to approach the weekend and to prepare for Sunday worship!” My desire is to have an up-to-date, better than yesterday, personal encounter with Jesus Christ…and the exciting part of that is that He says that it is possible! What about you? How are you approaching the weekend? Something to think about…be blessed!
