A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 28th 2021 Thursday

Greetings to you in the Name above all names…Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a lovely winter’s morning in the Kingdom…and yes, this is the day that the Lord has made for us and we will be glad in it! This morning I am truly thankful to God for the privilege of living in Canada…and in this province and this city. I am thankful, as well, for those who are in authority over us. I trust that you are keeping healthy – physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and relationally. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to  wrap His presence around you and to release: healing and wholeness and hope and mercy and grace and joy and peace…to you in generous amounts.

An interesting thing has happened…one of my Christian “faith-brothers” sent an email recently and shared that he has been receiving encouragement from a particular verse of Scripture that made a bold declaration…The battle belongs to the Lord.” Since receiving that  “word”, God has made a point of making sure it appeared in my morning devotions every day. So let me give you the whole verse:

2 Chronicles 20:15  –  New Living Translation – He said, “Listen, all you people of Judah and Jerusalem! Listen, King Jehoshaphat! This is what the Lord says: Do not be afraid! Don’t be discouraged by this mighty army, for the battle is not yours, but God’s.”

Please note that the context would tell us that the reference is to an invading army but consider that “this mighty army” could indicate anything that comes against that looks so formidable that we feel overwhelmed…and afraid and discouraged. I believe that God wants us to understand…as did the people of Judah and Jerusalem…that He is there when our ‘enemy’ is more than we can handle. When we hear words of counsel like that from God we need to respond like the Psalmist: I have chosen to be faithful. I have determined to live by Your regulations.  Psalm 119:30 NLT …and pray: Your kingdom come, your will be done, right here and right now in my life, on earth as it is in heaven.  Matthew 6:10  ESV.

A little something to ponder…be blessed!
