A Church with a Heart for our Community

December 10th Thursday

Greetings to you in the beautiful, wonderful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning – lovely sunshine and a little chill in the air…and it encourages us to rejoice in the Lord and be glad in the day that He has made for us. I have a sense that God is in a good mood today…and He is on the move! I have been hearing “praise reports” and the tone of prayer is changing. There seems to be an expectancy in the hearts of the intercessors…as they respond to a state of spiritual emergency. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to reveal His nearness to us…may God be the “lifter of our head”…may God be our Restorer…may God  be our All-Sufficient One…may we experience His goodness today!

One of my favourite verses to ponder through Advent and Christmas is: The Word became flesh and made his dwelling with us…The Word became flesh and blood and moved into the neighborhood…John 1:14a NIV / Message. It seems that one of themes that God highlights from Genesis 3:9 to Revelation 21:3 is how He wants to be in the midst of people, wants to be part of their lives, wants to be “present” with them. We know the old cliche – if God seems far away – guess who moved? So it was at Bethlehem that God personally made himself available to His creation.

We know, because of how the story develops from that moment, what an extravagant display of God’s love this is. The rest of the story is still unfolding for we have the opportunity to “host” the Presence on a daily basis. However, we need to understand and ponder and celebrate the decisiveness of God to move into our world – our neighborhood – our lives. It would seem that the timing was right, and when God chooses to move into our history – it is always at just the right time!

Something to ponder – be blessed!
