A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 2nd Friday

Greetings to you – sought after, called by name, redeemed, equipped, and empowered by the Father…in the marvelous name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a great fall day the Lord has made for us! How will you “rejoice and be glad in it” with enthusiasm? Next question – have you had a good week…have you enjoyed the people in your life…has God surprised you with grace and mercy…have you learned something new…have you got twelve – two days time six – reasons to give God thanks? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to grant you health, strength, and a happy heart…and anointed vision to ‘see’ him at work in your life.

This morning I am thanking God for the Don Moen worship concert last night…great music, encouraging words, powerful prayers, and a new song. I am thanking God the technology that allows the concert to be available for replay…and that I could find the lyrics to the new song. I appreciate that one of the key songs had a 2020 approach.

I was reminded of an old song written by Fanny Crosby some 140 plus years ago…To God Be The Glory! The last verse of the song says – Great things He has taught us – Great things He has done – Great our rejoicing through Jesus the Son – But purer and higher and greater will be – Our wonder, our transport (our rapture), when Jesus we see. The song reminds me to pay attention to and to appreciate and to grow from and to learn from…what God has already done. However, there is a great word in the verse…BUT! I like that word because it tells me that something is going to happen…we are not through yet!

I believe that there are good things ahead – in spite of all the turmoil and ugliness around us. I like the answer of a pastor who was being challenged and accused of being a “prosperity teacher”  – “Well, I am not a ‘poverty teacher’…and neither is God a poverty God!” I believe that wherever we are in our faith journey, no matter what has happened, no matter how good God has been – and He must be good or we wouldn’t be here …THERE IS MORE!

Have a blessed weekend!
