A Church with a Heart for our Community

August 11th Tuesday

Greeting to you in the wonderful, beautiful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Thanks be to the Lord for life today and the ability to enjoy this day He has created – even though it is a little unsettled at this moment. It is going to be a surprise! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday with blessings and favor and glimpses of God. Today I am praying for you, asking Father to make you aware of His ‘wrap-around’ presence as you receive strength, healing, guidance, and encouragement.

At the start of last weekend I received an email call to worship and fasting for our country of Canada. The words that introduced this call to prayer were quite provoking…”We are at a critical moment for our nation” – COVID-19 management and a possible second wave ; a national that has risen from 700 billion to over 1.2 trillion in just a few months ; ethics investigations in our federal government ; a Conservative Leadership race ; a crisis in our long term care facilities ; unemployment ; rising suicide rates … our country needs national prayer and repentance.”  Although there is always an opportunity to do this, as the voices keep saying…”we are in unprecedented times!” It is time for God’s people to lead the way…(read the words of 2 Chronicles 7:14).

This morning as I ponder these words afresh. I am reminded of a prayer chorus…of course, I am…but it has been on my heart as of late. The words go like this…All that you need is a miracle – And all that you need can be yours – And all that you need is available – The moment you turn to the Lord … John Gowans. The words are meaningful on a personal level and on an intercessory level for others who are in need right now and as we pray for our country.

We need a COVID-19 miracle! We can make a list of how we have been affected by this virus. We can see how it has affected family and friends…and our country. The effects are so diverse…we need a miracle! We have listened to so many opinions…we need a miracle! There have been so many directions and guidelines and suggestion…we need a miracle! As the chorus says–as Scripture says…as we somehow know in our heart, the miracle we need can only be found in one source…the moment(s) we turn to the Lord!

It is sobering to consider that when our ‘lock-down’ came five moths ago that one of the first things that was silenced was the church…and corporate worship. It is time – to humble ourselves before God knowing that there is something we can do – we can pray for the miracle(s) that is(are) needed. Remember that God’s Word says – that we have not because we ask not! (James 4:2).

Something to think about —  have a blessed day…miracles are available!
