Greetings in the wonderful, beautiful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a lovely morning in the Kingdom to gather our thoughts and say “thank you” to the Lord for making such a beautiful day! We will rejoice and be glad in it! One of the other things that I thank God for is where I live and for the leadership of the three levels of government that are in play. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release healing power, amazing grace, and peace beyond your understanding.
I received a ministry letter…email actually, and the theme deals with the summer drought we have been experiencing. Of course, not only is there a physical dryness but there is a spiritual, relational, and emotional dryness. The Bible tells us that “thirst” is an experience that can be valuable to us. It is ‘thirst’ that so often leads to the changes in our life that are so necessary.
I know that when we talk about some of these issues we are not always sure of what the meaning is, so let me define three dry spells that we go through in our spiritual journey. You have to remember that a ‘dry spell’ reveals the need for change.
When it is your peace that is in a dry place, God wants to deal with who you are. In this time you are seeing attitudes, behavior, and thought patterns within yourself that you don’t like…God is disturbing your peace. God is wanting to change you…to fine-tune you.
When your joy is in that dry season, God wants to change what you are doing. Perhaps it is some habit or routine that was important and necessary and enjoyable but not so much…the joy isn’t there. If the joy isn’t there your strength is being affected. God needs to change what you are doing.
When you are not comfortable where you are in life, God wants to change your location. You know for yourself that if you are comfortable where you are the more you resist change…you won’t move forward.
These things happen to individuals…and they happen to groups and families as well. As I think of these things I am grateful to God that He not only supplies good, well-watered times but necessary times of spiritual dryness!
something ti think about…have a blessed day!
