Greetings to you in the name…the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another late autumn morning, quiet and needing a little bit of sunlight but carefully prepared for us by the Lord – so we give thanks! I wonder what this day will hold for us – what surprises, what challenges, what divine appointments, what adventures – as Sam says to his friend Frodo, “what kind of story have we fallen into?” I have a belief that Lord wonders what will we do with this day we have been given? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release a blessing of purpose and direction and joy to you.
First, I am so glad this is Wednesday! It seems that all I have heard for the last week or so has been – Black Friday, and then it was Icy Sunday, and them Cyber Monday, and then Giving Tuesday…okay maybe not Icy Sunday. I received dozens of emails about those ‘days’ – advertising and promoting and requesting. So I am enjoying ‘Nothing Wednesday!’
Second, I learned about the new holiday that has been forced upon us. You know – it started at Hallowe’en and blended into Thanksgiving and then Christmas. So the new holiday is called ‘Hallothanksmas’ – it even has its own website. It takes place from early October to New Years Day.
Third, I am so blessed to have good devotional material dealing with the Advent journey to read and ponder. It is so important to have resources that challenge and fertilise our thinking because sometimes we assume we know what this Advent and Christmas ‘thing’ is all about…but not necessarily so.
Today is our prayer gathering for our church family and everyone will get prayed for and then … we will have the delight of watching God ‘work’ in and through the lives of our Christian family. One more thing…and it will be no surprise, I am enjoying some new Christmas music from both old friends and new.
Have a really blessed ‘Wednesday’ and Happy Hallothanksmas – be blessed!
