A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 22nd Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of the “all-sufficient one”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful winter’s morning…but I am missing the bright sunshine! I trust that you had a great weekend and experienced the blessing of God’s ‘nearness’ to you -wherever you were and in whatever you were doing! I will be praying for you today, asking Father to “super-size” His presence to you at the beginning of this week so that you are ‘expecting’ good things to happen.

Tonight is the annual general meeting of our congregation. It has always been a positive experience for me…and I think for the congregation as well. It gives us an opportunity to highlight what has gone on in our church over the past year and to look at ministry reports and budgets. This process allows has to gauge our progress and to make any adjustments and to respond to any concerns.

As I prepare myself, I am drawn to a verse of scripture…four verses actually: Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I (we) say to myself (ourself), “The LORD is my (our) portion; therefore I (we) will wait for him.” The LORD is good to those whose hope is in him, to the one(s) who seeks him; – Lamentations 3:22-25  NIV.

We are a small congregation and it is difficult at times to believe we are still here but we are not ‘consumed’ by peripheral things but keep experiencing God’s loyal love. We have learned to let go of the past…both the good and the bad-the victories and defeats…so that we can take hold of the new experiences of God’s grace and mercy that keep validating his faithfulness. Yes, God portions out to us all that we need…when we need it – so we ‘wait’ on his timing and discretion. I believe it is a “living hope” – pardon the pun – that keeps us focused on the One who does all things well and in abundant measure.
