A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 21st Friday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who asks – “What can I do for you?”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour!  It looks like a good first day of Autumn day with the wind and forecast of rain and beautiful sunshine sneaking in here and there. I trust that your week was blessed by God’s timely interruptions and course changes and divine encounters with people. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to create in your heart and mind an expectancy about gathering with the family of God for a celebration of faith.

When we gathered for our Bible study this week, we sang a song or two and one of them was – “the King is Coming!” and it sounded good. I especially like the personal declaration: I just heard the trumpet sounding and now His face I see – Oh the King is coming, the King is coming and He is coming for me. I give thanks to God for the hope we have in Jesus!

This morning I am pondering and thanking God for being able to know Him and to experience His anointing – an anointing that allows me to do things that I could never do on my own strength. This anointing is a gift that is available to all who accept it as a gift keeps on giving – as we nurture a personal relationship with God. I am looking at a favourite quote that says: The thought of You stirs us so deeply that we cannot be content unless we praise You, because You made us for Yourself and our hearts find no peace until they rest in You – Augustine. Today my daily thought gives another dimension: When I look at the galaxies on a clear night–when I look at the incredible brilliance of creation, and think this is what God is like, then instead of feeling intimidated and diminished by it, I am enlarged–I rejoice that I am part of it – Madeleine L’Engle.

The beauty of these thoughts is that there is a strength and confidence and purpose that is manifested in our live’s that we are not even aware of. You see, nurturing a personal relationship with God, getting to know Him as we walk in His strength is allowing Him to ‘smear us’…anoint us with Holy Spirit’s presence. An old hymn says it this way – How wonderful it is to walk with God- Along the path that holy men have trod – and we hear his voice, sense His protection, experience His closeness, respond to His guidance…we become more than we are without even knowing it is happening to us. Praise the Lord!

Have a great weekend…let Him anoint you!
