Greetings to you in the name of the One who empowers us to do all things that He requires of us, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What an interesting morning after the evening showers — makes you wonder what is in store for us today Oh, I am sure it will be good! I trust that this week has been good and a blessing with many surprises and delights. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to prepare you for a weekend of wonder…I believe God is going to make His presence known in very tangible ways.
Well, today is new music release Friday – but there is nothing to report on. However, I am beginning my second read of a new book. The first read goes quick because I want to catch the flavour and flow…but the second read is a little methodical as I take time to ponder. Let me restate the declaration that drives the thoughts in the book: We are building our lives on the promises of God. Because His Word is unbreakable, our hope is unshakeable. We do not stand on the problems of life or the pain in life. We stand on the great and precious promises of God. Max Lucado, Unshakeable Hope.
When I was doing the first read, one of the things I was looking forward to doing on the next read was to read the scriptural references from the Passion Translation…where I could. This morning as I was reading the first chapter I came across a beautiful verse: There is a private place reserved for the lovers of God, where they sit near Him and receive the revelation-secrets of His promises. Psalm 25:14 TPT. I am encouraged with the thought that there is “a private place reserved” for each one of us and that He will reveal personal insights from His Word.
I am reminded of the words of a hymn…that’s a surprise you say…“Standing On The Promise of God”. At various times I have stopped the singing at opportune points to ask …”what promise are you standing on?”…to which I get awkward silences…until someone remembers John 3:16. This morning I am wondering to myself, if we are not taking the time to discover God and get to know His Word…in particular those words that have significant meaning for our lives as we navigate the challenges of life. I wonder if we can honestly make the declaration quoted above. Something to ponder – and in case I stop and ask you…what promise(s) of God are you standing on today?
Have a great weekend…be blessed!
