Greetings to you in the name: the beautiful name, the wonderful name, the powerful name … of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Once again our Father God designed a lovely morning for us – even though there is a coolness in a brisk breeze, the sun is still shining bright. This is good way to begin a long weekend! I trust that you had a good week and experienced God’s presence in a multitude of ways. This is Pentecost weekend…are you excited? are you anticipating ‘something’? are you praying expectantly about our worship gathering? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to prepare the way within you for the Holy Spirit to move into your life afresh.
We were out last night at Encounter – a prayer and praise night … and it was great! God’s presence was surely at work. I am really looking forward to gathering with my church family on Pentecost Sunday. I believe that the manifestation of God is going to be experienced in churches in our community…and I am praying that it will take place in our sanctuary as well.
At the same time as I sense the excitement I am aware of the needs of so many people – health issues, relationships in families and among friends are challenging, the enemy has been attacking God’s people and isolating them from the fellowship of believers, life circumstances have placed people in tenuous places of uncertainty, and there are those who seem to have given up hope. Into this ‘mess’ God decided to send me a song to ponder…now that is a surprise.
The song is entitled – Miracles, and was written by four men, Stu Garrard, Dustin Smith, Chris Quilala, Joshua Silverberg – that I respect for their commitment to faith. Within the song are phrases like: The One who made the blind to see-Is moving here in front of me … The One who made the deaf to hear-Is silencing my every fear … The One who does impossible-Is reaching out to make me whole … The One who put death in its place-His life is flowing through my veins … The God who was and is to come-The power of the Risen One-The God who brings the dead to life-Your’re the God of miracles. However, it is the chorus that activates the words … I believe in You – I believe in You – You’re the God of miracles.
No matter what I may read, no matter what I may hear from others, no matter what good or bad thing is taking place in my world … if I don’t believe in God as the God of miracles —- well, what can I say? I believe in God! I believe that He can still, in 2018, perform miracles that defy logic, explanation, time and space, and common sense.
Have a blessed weekend!
