A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 21st Wednesday

Happy “Summer 2017!” and a beautiful day it is as well. Greetings to you in the name of of the One who can make things right, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! This would be a great morning to take your Bible and/or your devotion book outside to enjoy both the Creator and the creation. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to touch your life with a miraculous intervention in your health or relationships or circumstances.

Most of you know that as much as I like music and songs, I also like good quotes and pithy sayins. I have often used a quote in dealing with people problems…’hurt people hurt people’ and it is so true. Yesterday in a devotion that I received came a few thoughts that added to that diagnosis: ‘broken people break people’ – ‘shattered people shatter people’ – ‘damaged people damage people’ – ‘wounded people wound people’ – ‘bound people bind people’. Now, I am sure if we though fora bit we could add further insightful diagnostic phrases.

However truthful those phrases may be, all too often I-we simply use them to make an excuse for someone…even ourselves. In the devotional I was reminded, and at times I need to be reminded, that I am a servant of the Most High God and I believe in transformation, that Jesus Christ makes a difference in people’s lives. I know that to be true from personal experience. I was pleased and humbled to be reminded that: ‘Hurt people hurt people, but helped people help people’ – ‘broken people break people, but rebuilt people build people’ – ‘ shattered people shatter people, but whole people restore people’ – damaged people damage people, but loved people love people’ – ‘wounded people wound people, but healed people bind up wounds’ – ‘bound people bind people, but freed people lead others to freedom’.

One of my ‘elders’ reminds me often that God makes a bold declaration and promise: I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh. — Ezekiel 36:26  NIV. God says it and I believe it! I am believing that these words are true for me and you. An old hymn says: We have a message, a message from Jesus – A message of hope to the weary of heart – The love of my Saviour, there’s nothing so precious – The friendship of Jesus will never depart … Ira Sankey. “A message of hope to the hurt – the broken – the shattered – the damaged – the wounded – the bound … Jesus makes a difference!!

Something to think about as you enjoy the blessings of this day.
