A Church with a Heart for our Community

April 20th Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who paid for our salvation, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful April morning…showers and a thunderstorm! Obviously…this is another one of those days that the Lord has made for us – so we will give Him thanks and be surprised by His blessings! I will be praying for you today, asking Father to meet you at some point in the day with an overwhelming sense of peace and joy and hope.

God is really amazing! This morning He orchestrated the delivery of three email devotions. Each one, although written for whoever would read, was directed at me for the purposes of encouragement and challenge, Then, to kick it up a notch He made sure there was a verse of Scripture to ponder.

First, was the arrival of these words: Sometimes the greatest act of faith is faithfulness, staying where you’re planted. You chose to accept that God will never leave you nor forsake you, so you stay. You chose to trust Him and keep talking to Him. “I don’t understand this, God. It doesn’t make sense to me. But I also know I’m not you. I know your ways are higher than my ways. I chose to believe in you even in those times when I can’t feel your presence. Still, I know you’re there. – Craig Groeshel.

Second, was an few words about the Lord’s Prayer and the need to understand it from the context of relationship with God: We don’t choose the prayer; it chooses us. It reaches out to us, forms us, invites us into the adventure called discipleship…Jesus lovingly welcomes us into His own warm and shatterproof fellowship with His Father. – Selwyn Hughes

Third, I usually get these devotions called, I Hear His Whisper, but today it arrived with the title – I Hear His Thunder. The words  that are in it that speak tm are: Your true calling is to be an overcomer and to be an overcomer means you will be challenged…Have I not promised to deliver you and to be your wrap-around Shield? … You will overcome all things … Bring my word of overcoming grace to others … You will be my overcoming witness to many … Be strong, my overcoming one, and you will see My days of miracles. – Brian Simmonds. The significance here is that the name of our class in Bible College was – the Overcomers.

Now the Scripture verse: Listen to me all you godly ones: Love the Lord with passion! The Lord protects and preserves all those who are loyal to Him. But He pays back in full all those who reject Him in their pride. So cheer up! Take courage all you who love Him! Wait for Him to break through for you, all who trust in Him! – Psalm 31:23-24 TPT.

I am going to continue to meditate on all of this – have a grand day and be open to the what-how-where-when-why-who God selects to communicate with you.
