A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 29th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who has called us out of darkness into light, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful Spring morning in the Kingdom – beautiful sunshine, a gentle breeze, and blue skies…can you feel a song coming into your being? I will be praying for you today, asking Father to reveal his presence in your life in ways that you can see and understand and respond to.

One of my favourite Christian worship leaders/artist, Darlene Zschech was being interviewed recently. Darlene has been involved in Christian music for many years and the song “Shout To The Lord” released in 1997 introduced her to millions of people. She has even sung with Andreas Bocelli at St. Peter’s Square in Rome for the Pope. She has had a major battle with cancer and is still going through treatment. Her response to one of the interviewer’s question interested me: “Was there a moment in all that has happened where you lost your faith?” — “Lots of people have gone through incredible challenges in life. We all hit them at one point or another. For me oit was cancer. There were no guarantees. I had a very nasty prognosis. But through it all I just found the presence and person of Jesus to be so consistent, and so ‘in my face’, and so complete. People ask me, ‘Did you lose your faith?’ But I can’t think of anything further from the truth of where I was. No, I just found another level of who my God is…”

I know how true it is that we all face challenges that require more faith than we seem to have at that moment. The faith that we have always leads us to trust in the God who has all of the resources we need…it is not our faith on trial,it is our God. There is a poster that I have seen of a kitten holding onto a knot in a hanging rope end. It usually comes with a little phrase telling us that when we get to the end of our rope — tie a knot at the end and hang on!  If I could add a little to that…because the One holding the rope won’t let go! Faith, I believe, is best demonstrated at the point of our weakness…it is there that the supernatural strength and power of God’s strong hands can be seen so clearly. I often find myself at the point where all I can say is, “God is great!”

Have a wonderful day – enjoy the blessings that come your way!
