A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 8th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who established peace with God on our behalf, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful March morning…blustery wind and all. Happy International Women’s Day to all the women in our lives! I trust that you had a great weekend and Monday-Tuesday – and that you experienced the presence of God in tangible ways. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release healing power into your body-soul-spirit today – in ways that you can sense and respond to.

I have been trying to locate a quotation by Abraham Lincoln that says something like…a day in which I have not learned something new is a wasted day. However I did discover that…a man who stops learning is old, whether he is twenty or eighty – Henry Ford.  And I learned that  – a wasted day is one without laughter – E.E. Cummings. I further discovered that – a room without books is like a body without a soul – Cicero. Next I learned that – you don’t always need a plan, sometimes you just need to breathe, trust, let go and see what God can do without your help.

In my morning devotions I learned that – sin is something we do, guilt is an emotion we feel, and shame is a burden we carry around – Brian Houston. Next time I hear those words referenced, I will have a new understanding. I have also been reminded of the location of and the back story to ‘Cape Tribulation’. In order not to waste a day by not experiencing laughter, I watched yesterday’s video link again and I looked in he mirror!

I have come across a book… Deeper Still: Secrets to a Deeper Prayer Life and that discovery comes at a time when I sensed an inner hunger for more of God’s reality. The word “deep” is defined as “extending below the surface, descending far downward, profound, opposed to shallow, piercing a great way, not superficial or obvious, hidden, secret, heartfelt, intricate.” So I realise that God wants me to take me below the surface in my relationship with Him…not superficial but heartfelt, hidden, of great depth.

I have a sense that during this season of Lent, God wants to take each one of his family…deep. Deep calls to deep in the roar of your waterfalls, all your waves and breakers have swept over me. By day the LORD directs his love, at night his song is with me–a prayer to the God of my life.  Psalm 42:7-8  NIV

Have a great day – laugh a few times, learn something new, read a book – be blessed!
