Greetings to you in the name of the ‘mountain-mover’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning to begin a new month! I think that September is one of my favourite months…and I am expecting God to move in our lives during this month in ways that will bring great joy to our lives. September is a harvest month…so as I pray for you today, I am asking the Lord of the Harvest to release an insight, a vision, an image, a simple expectation — of what He has planned for you…your personal “harvest of blessings” from Him.
For the past few days I have been carrying with me – in my shirt pocket – a quotation that I had read a few days ago and copied out…pocket-sized! The first two sentences say: Every time you venture out in your life of faith, you will find something in your circumstances that, from a commonsense standpoint, will flatly contradict your faith. But commonsense is not faith, and faith is not commonsense. and then two questions: Can you trust Jesus Christ where your commonsense cannot trust Him? Can you venture out with courage on the words of Jesus Christ, while the realities of your commonsense life continue to shout, “It’s all a lie”? – Oswald Chambers.
Faith is rather an interesting word to talk about. It can mean so many different things. I can be used as a noun or a verb or adjective or adverb. Faith is in the hands, as it were, of the person using the word. I suppose what strikes me in the above quote is the question: Can you venture out with courage on the words of Jesus Christ…? Jesus often commended people for their faith, and at others times says that He would not recognise the man who spoke the name of Jesus without faith in that name. One of my favourite statements of Jesus is: He replied, “Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.” Matthew 17:20 NIV. To this let me add: What matters is not the size of your faith, but the size of the God you put it in – Rick Warren.
As I move forward into what I believe is going to be an exciting month in the Kingdom, I want to make a declaration: I believe in the God who moves the mountains. I will be giving you a ‘link’ on the prayer email fora song that is bouncing around in my spirit. I received an email from a colleague and friend who closed with this declaration: The LORD is good — He is up to something great…
Be blessed…and enjoy the day!
