A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 7th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the “Light of the World”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another beautiful morning in the Kingdom … albeit a little warm but sunshine is good for the soul! I trust that you have plans to enjoy this day and make it significant! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to encourage you and to surround you with health, strength, and a happy heart.

“Back To Church Sunday”…you are invited! – that is what the few large signs and 300 lawn signs say…just a simple invitation to the public – to ever pays attention. I am excited about what might happen if every sign inspired one person or one family – to show up on that Sunday to see what’s going on in the church these days. What might they find? Have things changed…even a little? Is the church still operating on some sort of predictability and calling it “tradition”?

I have reading about a church who said that they were operating just like God suggested…I am God and I do not change! Of course, they seemed to have missed God’s power thought – Behold i am doing something new today! One of the attributes of God’s character that I value is the creativity of the Creator. The God who never changes is always, therefore, the Creator…and a Creator…creates! A ‘Creator’ in creating must “change” a supply of ingredients into something else…and calls it a creation. I suppose that means that the God who never changes in character is always expressing himself in rather unique ways.

So I am wondering if someone finding their way “back to church” might find a place where changes have happened…and are happening?  I wonder if they will find a little unpredictability being expressed amid the traditions? I wonder if they might find that people have changed in their ways of expressing the traditions of love and forgiveness and acceptance and inclusiveness? I am praying that the church will indeed be like the God it represents – never changing in purpose, character, and faithfulness – and yet always ready to create an fresh expression of that character.

Something to think about — may your day be blessed!
