A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 5th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a lovely September morning after the rain! I trust that you had an enjoyable weekend and Labour Day – fun times with family and friends, as well as quiet times for yourself to prepare for a new month and a new season. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to reveal His love, mercy, and grace to you in fresh and meaningful ways.

Yesterday was our Monday – Praying For the City…yes, even on a holiday Monday. A dozen people from at least four different congregations gathered…and God showed up! There is a foundational prayer in my heart each week – “please God: release the spirit of prayer through meaningful words, release Your Word into our midst through the sharing of Scripture, release a word of prophecy, release a manifestation of Your presence, release a spirit of oneness and unity, and release a freedom in our approach. God, I must say, rarely disappoints us…and often overwhelms us and that was the case yesterday.

We have been talking about and praying for revival in the church community…and we were doing it again, even before the prayer time started. Then came a “word from God” to us through one of our women, “I believe that ‘revival’ is already here, taking place around us and we haven’t noticed. It is in the sermons being preached with freshness and power. It is in the Bible study groups that are growing around the community. It is in the people who are coming back to church. I believe that revival is taking place right in front of us…right now!” God then validated that “word” with moments of silence as we processed what was said.

Over the past weeks we have been praying for a “revival of love” within the Christian community and in response to that God reminded us of a “revival passage of Scripture”. Revival, by its nature is bringing back to life and in the context of the church…it is bringing back to life those who have been away, separated from the family of believers. So, here are the words that God gave us: Live creatively friends. If someone falls into sin, forgivingly restore [revive] him, saving your critical comments for yourself. You might be needing forgiveness before the day’s out. Stoop down and reach out to those who are oppressed. Share their burdens, and so complete Christ’s law. If you think you are too good for that, you are badly deceived.  Galatians 6:1 – 3  The Message.

Yes, there were prayers and more sharing and acceptance and joy and … God showing up on a Labour Day with a dozen people who believe that God is ‘reviving’ His people.

Have a great day – be blessed!
