A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 23rd Wednesday

Greetings to you – redeemed. released, and restored in the wonderful, beautiful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful fall morning in the Kingdom! This is one of those times when it is a delight to declare – “This is the day that the Lord has made for–and I will rejoice and be glad in it!” I trust that you had a great weekend and Monday-Tuesday…perhaps catching up on chores or visiting with family or simply enjoying the beauty of the season. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to touch your body-mind-spirit with his healing presence and grace and mercy…and may He give you the resources you need to deal with the weariness of life.

We are travelling through a significant Jewish festival season called the ‘Days of Awe” … we had Rosh Ha Shanah last weekend and his weekend – starting at sundown this coming Sunday it is Yom Kippur or the Day of Atonement. This week is a time of reflection and  asking ourselves if there is any area of our lives that need God’s forgiveness.

It seems that God has been reminding me the significance of the new season we are entering. Last Sunday morning as I was preparing for morning worship God got my attention with the lyrics of a song … The Lord is in His holy temple, let all the earth be silent. Since then I have heard that song repeated a few times and each time it seems that God is saying – “you have ears – so listen up!” In fact, on Monday I was reading a prayer for Jerusalem when the song began to play. Many of you will know that that verse is being lifted from the Bible…Habakkuk 2:20.

Along with the song, God reminded me of a verse that is foundational to our congregation – Be still and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations. – Psalm 46:10 …note that “Be still” can be translated as “Be silent”.  I have been thinking that God is up to something in the days ahead. One of the ideas concerning year 5781 is that it is a year when God is going to review and renew His covenant wit his people.

This weekend…starting Friday evening and all-day Saturday there is a livestreaming event called the Return…and if you are interested, the website is: www.thereturn.org. It is a national and global day of prayer and repentance and has an excellent team of speakers and worship leaders.

At a time when there is so much “talk” about covid 19, racism, politics, rebellion, economy, and….we need to be reminded.  the Lord is in His holy temple! He is still in control! – and do not forget it, but “Be silent!” – stop trying to fix things yourself.

Something to ponder…be blessed!
