A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 1st Tuesday

Greetings to you – accepted, forgiven, and restored by Almighty God through the powerful, beautiful, and wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! I trust that had a good weekend and Monday, enjoying all the good things God has sent your way I pray that you are ready to move through a new month with peace, hope, and joy coming to you from God’s hand. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to respond to the cry of your heart … may He supply you with exactly what you need to keep moving forward … and may you be surprised by His presence at unexpected moments.

This morning I was caught off-guard by a short paragraph in my devotional reading:  So, if you don’t know Jesus as a person, know his remarkable personality–playful, cunning, fierce, impatient with all that is religious, kind, creative–you have been cheated. If you don’t experience Jesus intimately, daily, knowing the comfort of his actual presence, don’t hear his voice speaking to you personally–you have been robbed. If you don’t know the power of his indwelling life, shaping your personality, healing your brokenness, enabling you to live as he did–friend, you have been plundered. – John Eldredge, Restoration Year.

Just take a moment and read that for yourself. How do you respond? I understand that we have an enemy–a thief– who makes it his mission to … steal, kill, and destroy all that God has given me in Jesus Christ…the abundant life. It seems that this thief is so good at his job that I was not even aware of what he had done. I needed that paragraph to help me realize that I have been cheated, robbed, and plundered. So what do I do…I call the divine insurance agent and request assistance – He is on duty 365/24/7 and promises that when I call He will answer. I just know that He is going to instruct me on how to re-focus my attention on regaining what was taken.

As a matter of fact, He promises that not only will I get back what was taken but it will have been repaired, restored, updated, enhanced, and added to. I already know that I have responsibilities going forward and that I have to keep my focus on Jesus and that there is a special power source that is available to assist me…I simply need to keep replenishing it and making a daily commitment to what He says. Thank you, Father-God for devotional books that make my brain itch!

Have a blessed day…take time to ponder…
