A Church with a Heart for our Community

September 13th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the God who is in control – may you experience His power through Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Another lovely day in the Kingdom is starting to unfold and with it comes an awareness that God has good plans for you and I! I will be praying for you today, asking Father to use you to touch someone else’s life in a meaningful way.

Yesterday I ‘planted’ a sign on the church lawn for “Back To Church Month” … and I believe it was a very positive thing to do. We are a small church and  too often want to remain anonymous for a variety of reasons. I would guess that on our own we feel a little insignificant but as God says about Himself – we are who we are! – and He says that He has good plans for us, He wants to give us a future and a hope, He wants to prosper us .. not just as individuals, but corporately.

On the sign, sitting on the corner of our lawn, is a rather bold invitation-declaration:  Discover the life changing benefits for you. I wondered if the members of our church really knew what the life-changing benefits were and could they tell a friend or family member or a curious person passing by. I wondered if they even knew for themselves. I know that each week many people express praise and thanksgiving for God’s blessings but what in particular can they identify as God’s blessing.

This morning I was drawn to a portion of Scripture that says: Praise the LORD, O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits — who forgives all your sins, and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with god things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s.  Psalm 103:1-5  NIV. The passage goes on for another 17 verses and highlights some very important truths about the God who has benefits for those who would allow Him to give to them. He promises a generational blessing for our children and our children’s children…amazing.

The exciting part of this for me, is that His benefits are available at our ‘little’ church for the ‘whosoever’ and thatis why it is a pleasure and privilege and responsibility to put a sign on our lawn inviting people to come and discover God and all that He can offer.

Have a great day – be blessed!
