Greetings! I trust that you had a great weekend and Monday…and that all is well in your world today. What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom with opportunities to explore all that the Father has for us. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release healing and hope into your life.
I am really appreciating how God chooses to reveal a truth and to direct your thoughts. We recently went to see a movie called: Ricki and the Flash. It probably isn’t everyone’s ‘cup of tea’, but it has some good “rock and roll music” and a few good lines about parenting in a disconnected family. One of the songs has a line that keeps bouncing around in my mind…”I still haven’t found what I am looking for!” written by Adam Clayton and first performed by Bono and U2. It really is a faith-based message, may be that is why it hangs around in my thoughts. I can hear the words of Paul: But this one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toeward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. Philippians 3:13b-14 NIV. I haven’t found what I am looking for…so the journey goes on.
I put that music together with a recent devotional that spoke to my heart about the ‘movement of God’ as revealed in Scripture. I have read this list twice now in gatherings…and I am going to give it to you this morning: When I see God’s name mentioned in Scripture, I often find a verb somewhere nearby. God is constantly on the move. Though we may not always see him or sense him, he is actively engaged. Consider for a moment a few of the verbs of God. God answers, bestows, blesses, blots, calls, cares, cleanses, clothes, comforts, corrects, counsels, covers, cuts off, delights, delivers, detests, disciplines, encourages, fills, forgives, gathers, gives, guards, guides, heals, hears, helps, holds, increases, keeps, knows, leads, lifts, listens, loves, opens, pours, preserves, protects, provides, purifies, rejoices, remembers, rescues, restores, rewards, satisfies, saves, speaks, strengthens, sustains, teaches, upholds, watches, works, and wounds. Indeed, our God is fully alive. He is ever-present. He is ever-active. He is ever-involved. Margaret Feinberg – Organic God.
I still haven’t found what I am looking for…because there is always a dimension of my God to explore and learn about. The Bible tells us in Genesis that we are made in the image of God, so in our relationships with ourselves and others…there is always something new to learn. I believe it was Abraham Lincoln who said”that a day we don’t learn something new is a wasted day.”
Something to ponder — be blessed!
