A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 5th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the “Living Word of God”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful fall morning – especially for the “Blue Jays” and their fans – in the Kingdom! As it is Thanksgiving week – are you taking time…on purpose…to see all the good and perfect gifts that God has given to you? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to open your eyes to see the beauty of His presence in people and things…and that He will open your ears to hear what He is trying to say to you!

I must confess – I watched the Blue Jays play last night…and yes it was brilliant! One of the things that grabbed my attention was the sound and energy and excitement of the audience – the fans. The level of performance from the players was great. The strategy of the managers and coaching staff was evident. Of course, the moment when the winning hit sailed over the fence igniting the audience into such celebration – wow! I did my shouting and watched the replays and then had a few things to attend to at that moment…like take out he garbage. When I came back to the television something very strange had happened – the noise level had diminished and the seats were almost empty…like within twenty minutes or so.

I thought of a verse of Scripture: And I heard a sound from heaven like the roar of rushing waters and like the loud peal of thunder. The sound I heard was like that of harpists playing their harps. And they sang a new song before the throne…Revelation 14:2 – 3a  NIV. Now that goes on for some time…actually the worship gets louder and longer. There is a new song that we have been singing called – Until My Voice is Gone, and in one of the verses it says:So when we’ve exhausted ev’ry single way-With our bodies weak and our voices strained-You are still the song in us that never ends-We can’t help but stand and start it all again – Travis Ryan.

Strange it is that  what happens at a baseball game could in some way illumine an event that hasn’t even happened yet. I suppose if Jesus could teach His followers through parables, then the Spirit can use living parables to teach me. You can never really tell what God is trying to communicate to us, unless you pay attention to what is going on around you. I have a sense that the bleachers in heaven won’t empty so quickly – of course the game that won and being celebrated has a much greater significance.

Something to think about – be blessed!
