A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 2nd Thursday

Greetings in the name of the ‘Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world” (that means mine…and yours, too!). What a lovely morning is slowly unfolding before us. Maybe if we all stand up and give God a shout-it might speed things up, or it would be good for us any way. I am sensing a note of reluctance. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to infuse you with his promise of – life in all of its fullness.”

I am trying to learn the traffic schedule on my drive to work, especially on one main street near my home. There are many school buses that come along and have frequent stops, so if one wants to avoid delays then one must travel at the appropriate time…especially if you don’t like to wait…and one or two minutes either side of the opportune time can mean a disaster. There are two obvious solutions…leave a little early or a little later – but that would be too easy! All of this too simply explain that this morning I got caught! and in the midst of waiting, God laughed and revealed a lesson.

God reminded me of one of my favourite passages of Scripture that begins with these words: There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven …He made everything beautiful in its time…Ecclesiastes 3:1, 11a  NIV. As I began a reasonable argument as to the validity of applying that to my present situation…He chuckled at me again. So I looked around me, trying to grasp the humour of it all – I noticed the beautiful colours of leaves on the trees and bushes and I noted the spikes of sunlight being released through the crevices in the cloud and mist. And then I saw some of the children…laughing, running, excited to be with friends, racing for the open bus doors, with a short glance at mom and/or dad that spoke in a variety of ways. Of course, I saw the reactions of parents…again with a variety of body language messages and facial expressions.

It is amazing what you see when you aren’t in a hurry…and why is that person behind me honking his car’s horn at me just because I was caught up in a moment of discovery? Have they not read that God has made everything beautiful in its time…even waiting for buses as they load the reality of the present? I just don’t know why everyone is in such a rush. They are missing so much of God’s creation.

Be blessed!
