A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 24th Friday

Greetings in the name of the “Artist-in-residence” who has taken up his palette and is painting all creation with such beauty, Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! I trust that you have had a great week and you are looking forward to gathering with your church family to celebrate and affirm your faith. I am sure that you have many fall chores to get done as well, but take time for ‘refuelling’ your inner person. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to do a Psalm 23 for you!

I want to tell you about a new song I have been listening to – the music is good and the words are great…in fact it is the words that lead me to share this with you. Here are the words: “Grace, glorious grace… — Grace, wonderful grace… — Grace, beautiful grace… — Grace, powerful grace… – Covered, covered, covered by Your grace… — No matter what I’ve done-No matter where I’ve been-No matter how I fall-You pick me up again-You have removed my shame-You take me as I am-You call me justified-Now I am covered by Your grace.” – Israel Houghton & Joth Hunt. After such a tumultuous week in our world – globally, nationally, personally – we need to know that we are ‘covered’ by God.

I am reminded of a Christian prayer song that calls these words from the heart: Wash from my hands the dust of earthly striving – Take from my mind the stress of secret fear – Cleanse, Thou the wounds from all but Thee far hidden – Albert Orsborn. However all that being said, I am aware that each one of us need to make an effort to impact our world in a positive manner and that requires a different sort of response from us as individuals. It was the song – “God is watching us” that comforted us in a different time, but I would suggest that we grab hold, with faith a new song: “Today I am going to try and change the world.” I believe it is time to stand up and with God’s help be active to do our part-in our country-in our province-in our city-in our community!

Have a good weekend and be blessed!
