A Church with a Heart for our Community

October 20th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the wonderful, beautiful, and powerful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a grand autumn morning – thanks be to the Lord for the day He has made…and yes! I will rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday – appreciating and enjoying all the blessings God sent your way. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to watch over the people and situations that are giving you concern…may He show you new ways to respond to your challenges…may He direct your interactions with the people in your life, especially the ones that can try your patience.

Yesterday was our Monday Noon Hour prayer gathering and though are numbers are smaller, there is a powerful expression of intercession taking place. We are passionate to see God move in our city…and county breaking through the strongholds that have appeared over the last months of lockdown. I am reminded that one of the names that is used in Scripture for God is Baal-Perazim – He is the God who breaks through! There seems to be a prophetic stirring in the hearts of those who have been watching and praying challenging the faith community to live out the faith they say they have.

I have been challenged by this quote…It is often those who have been overexposed to the things of God who actually build a resistance to Him. Overexposure often happens when a person hears much teaching from the Word but doesn’t come to a place of total surrender…Jesus is not to be tried in small portions. He is to be surrendered to completely and wholeheartedly.  Bill Johnson, Hosting The Presence Every Day. Now, that is worth pondering for a moment or two.

I would add to that that there seems to be a good deal of resistance within the hearts of God’s people…and our enemy has been placing discouraging and controversial thoughts in our minds. So this morning God directed me to a Scripture…We can demolish every deceptive fantasy that opposes God and break through every arrogant attitude that is raised up in defiance of the true knowledge of God. We capture, like prisoners of war, every thought and insist that it bow in obedience to the Anointed One. 2 Corinthians 10:5  TPT.

Our enemy is filling our minds with thoughts of defeat and guilt and helplessness and hopelessness and weakness and disbelief and inadequacy and evil. We are given simple tools to respond…read Philippians 4:5-9. The power that is given to us is to know the truth from God’s perspective — it will set us free.

A little something to ponder — have a blessed day!
