Greetings to you in the name of the ‘great thirst quencher’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom! God sure knows how to ‘make your day’ – give Him a shout of praise! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release a fresh supply of energy, vision, and enabling grace.
This morning on the radio I heard that there is going to be a national day of protest in the United States – people are being encouraged to go outside and ‘shout’ at the sky. Now I did not hear what words were going to be shouted. It was thirty years ago that a song was written that said: When the pressure’s coming down on you-When it’s time for them to pull you through-When this thing has got a hold of you-When you feel that this place is almost through – Shout at the sky, Shout at the sky. I believe it was in the musical…Paint Your Wagon.
Strange advice, I thought, until I read: How much longer, Lord? Will you forget me forever? How much longer, Lord? Will You look the other way when I’m in need? How much longer must I cling to this constant grief? I’ve endured this shaking of my soul. So, how much longer shall my enemy have the upper hand? It’s been long enough! Take a good look at me, God, and answer me! – Psalm 13:1-3a TPT. Perhaps it is necessary and expected that when we get to a certain point, a breaking point, we have to ‘shout’ at the sky…or the creator of the sky. Maybe that is because we spend a lot of time trying to make life work on our own.
It is interesting what the psalmist asks for: Breathe Your life into my spirit. Bring light to my eyes in this pitch-black darkness…Answer me; I know You will not fail me now. – Psalm 13:3b TPT. ‘Life’ and ‘light’ – these requests take us back to creation…God’s first interaction with humanity begins with the breath of life enlivening humanity’s spirit – and the first four recorded words of God…’let there be light’. Is the shout to the sky a simple plea to begin again, a call for revival?
Maybe this is a good day to shout to the heavens – Revive us, O Lord! Show us your Glory!
Be blessed!
