A Church with a Heart for our Community

November 15th Tuesday

Greetings in the name of Jehovah Jireh, the God who provides all that we need and He has provided for us..Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a delightful November morning in the Kingdom! I trust that you had an enjoyable weekend and experienced God’s beautiful array of blessings. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to release health, strength, and happiness to you.

Over the past few weeks our Monday – “Praying For Our City” – has focused on the need for unity in the the church community. Interestingly enough, I hear reports from other churches that pastors have been preaching about unity and peace for the church community and different prayer groups have been drawn to pray in that direction as well. Yesterday, one of our local pastors reported that one of his denominational leaders shared an observation with him: “I can ‘smell’ the presence of God over your city…something is stirring in the spiritual atmosphere. I sense a revival is ready to appear.”

We have been directed back to Psalm 133 that speaks about unity and peace within the spiritual family…and boldly declares that when ‘unity and peace’ prevail and are manifest within in the family of believers that God “commands” a blessing, an anointing. Many times over the past weeks I have heard someone read, or quote, or pray … the “Lord’s Prayer” for the church from John 17 – where Jesus prayed passionately for unity and peace and love within the church. We were reminded that Jesus declared in Matthew 16 that – (He)… “I will build my church…” and that doesn’t mean a building but an assembly of people-a gathering-a family. In His church, He desires unity and peace and love.

It occurred to me yesterday, that all too often when we pray for unity and peace within the church family that we, too often do so and walk away thinking – I suppose – that it is all up to Him. I mean, if this is what He wants then he will make it happen. No,  I believe that He expects you and I to join Him…to participate in the program. Jesus did say…”Blessed are the peacemakers…!” If there is going to be unity and peace within this family, called the church, we have to “decide” to work at it – it is a process with a great reward…a “commanded blessing” from God. I know that when God commands something…it is serious and powerful and beautiful and transforming.

I believe that God really wants us to pray for and work at and get excited about …unity and peace within ourselves and our personal family and our individual church family and in the whole family of God.

Be blessed!
