A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 9th Thursday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a great morning in the Kingdom! Have you thanked God for waking you up…for giving you another day to experience all that He has to offer? I trust that you are enjoying your week to this point and that you have positive expectations for the rest of the week. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to gather you under the protective and comforting environment beneath His wings…so that you will sense how much He loves you!

I was doing some reading this morning and came across a two words that describe a health condition that seems to be prevalent within the church. This condition has been entrenched in the lives of God’s children for thousands of years. God, Himself, noticed it and even offered a prescription that can be applied in various ways. The two words – “spiritual amnesia” or forgetting what God has done…is doing…and plans to do.

The word ‘remember’ appears some 147 times in the Bible…it was include in the ten commandments, it was the guiding force behind the sacrament of communion, it was visualised in a multi-coloured display called a “rainbow” – “remembering” is important. There is a companion phrase that says – “do not forget” …”remembering” is important.

The meaning behind these two phrase is worth ‘remembering’ as well –  “do not fail to keep in mind”… “do not forsake”…”do not stop caring about” – “remembering” is important. There are two rather interesting scripture references : “…I will always remind…it is right to refresh your memory…always able to remember these things.” – 2 Peter 1:13-15 NIV — “….be careful that you do not forget the LORD your God….But remember the LORD your God..” Deuteronomy 8:10-18 NIV. Aha! – “don’t forget to remember!”…I think that I remember my mother telling me that, but now I find she was quoting God.

I suppose that is why we are challenged to share our testimony of what God has been doing in our lives…so the “spiritual amnesia” can be held in check. Have a great day and –don’t forget to remember! “
