A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 8th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a lovely Spring morning! … give a shout for sunshine and blue skies and a cool breeze! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to surround you with his love and strength as you face the challenges that will come your way…be aware of His presence!

Perhaps you knew, but I didn’t – we are in the Hebrew month called “Iyar”…and most of the time that wouldn’t be significant to me but for some reason I thought that I needed to understand what that could mean. One of the aspects of Jewish faith and traditions that I find so intriguing is that just about everything in their lives has a meaning beyond the ordinary…and that is the case with this month called – “Iyar.”

‘Iyar’ is a “transition month”, being the time between Passover and Pentecost and that suggests that it is a season to stay in God’s timing as we continue our spiritual journey. During the month of ‘Iyar’ is a kind of second Passover celebration and as such it is a time for a second opportunity to get things right…to receive God’s healing touch. ‘Iyar’ reminds people that it is never too late, so don’t miss the opportunities that will come your way. During ‘Iyar’ you must remember to prepare for Pentecost.

I can not help myself…there is a song that seems relegated to this season in the church calendar that says…”God of Elijah hear our Cry-Send the fire-To make us fit to live or die-Send the fire-To burn up every trace of sin-To let the light and glory in-The revolution now begin-Send the fire…’Tis fire we want, for fire we plead-Send the fire-The fire will meet our every need-Send the fire-For strength to ever do the right-For grace to conquer in the fight-For power to walk this world in white-Send the fire…”

I am believing that Pentecost Sunday 2019 – June 9th is going to be a significant event – therefore I believe we need the month of “Iyar” to remind us and challenge us! Blessings on you!
