A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 11th Wednesday

Greetings in the name of the ‘one and only’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Well, another day that begins without bright sunshine and blue skies…it is a good job we have been given great memories! Therefore it is our responsibility to let our faith and our hope – shine! We can make a difference today…start with yourself – go stand in front of the mirror and smile at yourself! Okay, maybe some of you are having a good laugh because you are used to looking for what is wrong and not what is good…God did not make junk! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to “bless you and keep you and make His face shine upon you and give you peace!”

“Day 7” of a prayer journey – and the focus is on – “Re-sounding the call of God” … may the nations hear the voice of God! The anchor text says: “…and for all who are far off, as many as the Lord our God will call to Himself.”  Acts 2:39  NASB. Strange it is that while we pray for people in far-off lands and cultures that people from those lands and cultures are praying for us. Yes, there are many in the far-off lands who haven’t heard about God – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit…and there are many in North America, even in Canada, even Ontario, even your city who haven’t heard that message either. We assume they have but…

The story of Pentecost, if you will recall, tells of the Christ-followers proclaiming the message of God in a variety of languages and dialects so that everyone listening heard about God in a way that they could understand and respond to. The challenge of 2016 is to be able to speak a language-a dialect so that people will understand. There will be a “dialect” unique to the single mom, and to the lonely senior, and to the homeless youth from a broken home, and to the busy family trying to survive, and to the disillusioned, and to the runaway, and to the addict, and to the rebellious…

Can you remember the moment in time when the message of God and the Gospel of Jesus Christ began to make sense? Unknown to you was the prayers of someone who really cared about you…a parent, grandparent, friend, spouse, sister, brother, maybe someone in a church prayer group who didn’t even know you by name! The prayers that we pray have so much power and significance…and yet we are so unaware of the effect. However, this I know from the biblical accounts and records – that whenever the Gospel is preached, heard, understood, and accepted there was an accompaniment of signs, wonders, and miracles. So my friend, keep praying and keep re-sounding the call of God…one day you will see God at work!

Something to think about…be blessed!
