A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 11th Friday

Greetings to you in the name of the one who was-who is-who is to come, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom…but I think God left the refrigerator door open last night. However, this is still the day that He has made for us! I trust that you have had a good weekend with lots of blessings – little delights, divine appointments, a few surprises, and quiet moments to pause – be still and know that He is in charge. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to continue the work of transformation that is going on within you – day by day becoming more like Jesus.

One last level of prayer – the tier of church prayer or corporate prayer. As the name suggests this takes place in the context of a church service or Christian gathering. There will, obviously be more people gathered in whom you may or may not have a personal relationship with. Prayer at this level can still be heartfelt and passionate but a little more general, a little reserved at times. This is a time when the focus will on the issues that involve the whole church or the community or world events.

I suppose, depending on the size of the church and its congregation it will look quite different. In smaller churches, 30 or so members, the service often takes on the characteristics of a small group and the prayer concerns can become more personal. This is a challenging time – balancing the intimacy without getting too involved in personal issues that need to be addressed in a less open forum.

All levels or tiers of prayer are important and each one is unique and in many ways each one supports the other. I am so grateful to God that He is always involved in communicating with us through prayer, be it personal or intimate or small group or corporately.

Have a grand weekend – remember your Mother and/or those wonderful women who revealed God’s nuturing love to you!
