A Church with a Heart for our Community

May 10th Tuesday

Greetings in the name of the One who promised us the Holy Spirit, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! It seems that the sunshine has taken another day off, so we need to let encouraging words and kind deeds light up the world around us. I trust that you had a grand weekend and Monday. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to wrap His presence around you and lift your spirit.

Today is “Day 6” of our 10 day prayer journey to Pentecost Sunday. The focus today is on “the Coming Generation” – God’s purpose for families and children. The anchor verse is: For the promise is for you and your children… Acts 2:39 NASB. We are encouraged to pray for  strong marriages and homes – for young people to follow God’s purposes – for Christ-followers to demonstrate the love of God to orphans, widows, and the homeless – for Christ-followers to extend God’s fatherly love to those displaced because of wars, epidemics, and natural disasters – for God to empower the coming generation to surrender to Him…the future belongs to them.

This is a very critical issue as, I am sure you know, the “CHURCH” is always one generation away from becoming extinct. In some ways the condition of the church today is due to a couple of generations that haven’t been forward thinking. There is a generation that forgot to instil and model the importance of faith and faith communities to their coming generation. They treated the things of God with indifference and without gratefulness. The church and a relationship with God within a faith community took second…even third, place.

We need another Pentecost! We need a time of refreshing! We need a time of restoration! We need a time of reorientation! I have a sense that God is wanting to visit us again in Holy Spirit power – please pray with “expectant faith” that this coming weekend will be a transition and transformation point for many Christ-followers!

Be blessed today!
