A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 25th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the powerful, beautiful, wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful Spring morning in the kingdom – such lovely sunshine! I trust that all is well in your world today and that you are healthy and sensing the strength of God’s presence. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to release tangible signs of his mercy and grace to you…and I pray that you will experience the protection of being under “the shadow of the Almighty.” Thank You, Lord, for loving us so much that You died for our sins. Thank You for remembering us even when we forget how much we need You.

Like many of you, I have watched more news reports than ever, and like you I have taken in so much information. I get to the point when I do not know who or what to believe. This morning I read the headlines from various news sites remembering that in really olden days the news came to a community by way of a travelling minstrel who ‘sang’ it to the people. As I pondered that, of course – a song came to me which I know is a surprise to you. However I heard the words – I have heard so many songs-Listened to a thousand tongues-But there is one that sounds above them all-The Father’s song, the Father’s love-You sang (and sing) it over me-And for eternity it is written on my heart.  – Matt Redman.

As the words bounced around in mind, I was reminded of the way God responds to our prayers in time of crisis and need. The one thing that I can always count on is that God’s answer always begins with Him offering to me Himself. He always reminds me that He will not leave me alone in any situation, in the face of anything challenge that is bigger than me. In fact, for me the biggest promise that God makes is that He will never leave or forsake. Then it was my friend, St. Paul, who wrote that – ALL of God’s promises are Yes! and amen in Christ Jesus. (2 Corinthians 1:20).

And it was Jesus, who at least seventy times boldly proclaimed – “I tell you the truth!” Just this morning as I was reading in John’s Gospel, Jesus made the statement “I AM”…and I was reminded that “I AM” is the name of God “Yahweh” and that is from the Hebrew, but in the Greek it is “ego eimi” which means…’He who can make things happen now!

So if I put all my ponderings together, God responds to my prayers by giving me…Himself in the presence of Jesus, the one who can make things happen in and around me–right now! There is where I am finding my hope…in the one voice who constantly speaks truth, who promises His presence, who gives peace beyond my understanding, who offers fresh doses of mercy and grace everyday, and who brings clarity to life.

Just a little something to think about…have a blessed day and be someone’s blessing today!
