A Church with a Heart for our Community

March 22nd Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who brings healing to body-mind-spirit, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful Spring morning in the Kingdom – all that beautiful sunshine has a way of lifting our spirits and renewing our hope. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to blanket you with the warmth and comfortableness of His presence bringing peace and assurance.

As most of you know I have a ‘liking’ for good books, quotes, and music. So when they all come together in one package it is a bonus-blessing. In one of my devotions I discovered a reference to a book called – The Singer by Calvin Miller. The book is an allegory that suggests that Jesus was singing a song no one else knew. I have not read the book yet but my imagination has grabbed hold of that idea. I am beginning to visualize Jesus as the Troubadour of Heaven sent to communicate the heart of God and the mysteries of a near and far-off kingdom through the haunting melody of eternity.

I recently watched a movie that had a very captivating phrase in it – going home for the first time – and it had a particular meaning in the movie. However, I thought of Jesus singing a song about a home that we have never been to but lies ahead of us, so we are heading home for the first time.Over the years as I have talked with people as they dealt with life circumstances and health concerns, eventually there would be the mention of…I want to go home. I have come to understand that God – He has placed eternity in our hearts. – Ecclesiastes 3:11 – has designed us with a instinctual knowledge of something we have not seen or experienced … yet.

When you first hear a song it may or may not sound interesting and grab your attention. It is only as you listen to it again and maybe again that you begin to enjoy it and understand it. Of course, you may dismiss it for some reason or other while you go seeking another song. So it is with the song that Jesus sang – some walked away, some listened again and again allowing each note to penetrate their being. In so doing the song brought hope and peace and meaning and joy. Interestingly enough the song continues to be sung and people still listen – some draw closer to hear it again and again while others walk away. However, I believe that all are looking for a home that they know is there.

Have a great day – be blessed!
