A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 25th Thursday

Greetings to you in the beautiful…the wonderful…the powerful – name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful summer morning in the Kingdom…do I hear an “amen!” or “praise the Lord!”? It is so true…there are some days when it is easier to accept that “this is the day that the Lord has made” and then to “rejoice and be glad in it!” — and this is one of those days. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to ‘make you lie down in green pastures and to lead you to still waters’ – so that He can restore your soul and fill your cup to overflowing!

This morning the Lord has been speaking to me about our response to this “new normal” we are adapting to. There are many finding these days difficult and their faith is being pushed to the limit and there are some who want to know where to go to resign! However, the “I give up” department is closed until further notice.

I have great news in the form of a man’s testimony: I focus on this one thing: Forgetting the past and looking forward to what lies ahead, I press on to reach the end of the race and receive the heavenly prize for which God, through Christ Jesus, is calling us. – Philippians 3:13-14. Yes! God is calling us to keep moving forward…to press on.

A paragraph in my morning devotion says…There are countless stories in Scripture and throughout history of people of character who didn’t quit, even when the odds were stacked against them. They pressed on. And as believers, even when it seems our friends, the culture, even the government is turning against us, we must keep pressing on…– Charles Billingsley.

And then the author leaves us with a powerful mission statement…Live with nothing to prove, live with nothing to hide, live with nothing to lose. Jesus is worth it! This challenge takes me back over forty years and to a point in my spiritual journey where there was a huge mountain in front of me. In the midst of seeking wisdom and direction, God sent me a collection of real-life testimonies in a book titled – Not Made For Quitting by Don Hillis. I decided then and I decide afresh today – “I am not made for quitting! Jesus is worth it!

Something to ponder … have a blessed day!
