A Church with a Heart for our Community

June 15th Friday

Greetings to you in the name of the one who has loved us before we even responded to him, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning in the Kingdom…and “NO!” – I don’t get tired of saying that. It looks like a lovely start to the weekend…Father’s Day weekend. I trust that you have had a good week and ready for all that God has prepared for you over the next few days. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to pour out the “living water” over you and fill you with ‘hope-joy-peace’!

Last night was “Encounter” at a local church. It is a non-orchestrated, spontaneous time of praise, worship and prayer. There is never a ‘sermon’ and there is much interaction between the people looking to ‘encounter’ God…perhaps the real ‘encounter’ happens as we ‘encounter’ each other. There always seems to be an opportunity to pray with each other which breaks down any walls between people…it would be quite a challenge to look someone in the eye and share their concerns and pray with them-for them without creating a simple bond.

I have been going to this gathering for a few months now on a spontaneous basis…that is-not every week but as life circumstances make possible and as the ‘Spirit’ leads. I must say that a few times we – my lovely wife and I – have attended that at the outset we felt a little disinterested, but, oddly enough, an ‘encounter’ takes place and we get caught up in the spirit of what is taking place. I have learned much from attending and participating…and can honestly say that I have never left that “Encounter” gathering without thanking God for being there.

Today happens to be a very special day in our home…my beautiful wife is celebrating her birthday! What a joy and delight – to share this day with her! She is my partner – called by God to serve Him and empowered by the gifting of the Holy Spirit. She is my friend – and we enjoy each other…especially all the unique foibles that inspire smile and laughter. She is my fellow-adventurer in this crazy Christian journey and I think we complement each other in so many ways. So – Happy Birthday to you!

Have a great weekend – be blessed!
