A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 7th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name of the “Light of the World”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a beautiful morning God has given to us…and it is going to be warm and toasty! This is the warm weather that we wishing for in February! so let us rejoice and give thanks…today is going to bring many blessings our way! I trust you had a good weekend/Monday and are anticipating a grand adventure as you trust God to travel through each day with you. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to lead you to moments of restoration, comfort and provision.

I want to thank God for one of those serendipitous moments when you are simply going about your day and you ‘happen’ to stumble upon a unexpected diversion that as you follow it, new thoughts and ideas are experienced. This morning I was simply reading my morning devotions when the writer shared a sentence or two that became that serendipitous moment. The sentence: Only in the Kingdom of God is peace a military tool..it is the Presence of peace that undoes the works of darkness. In an atmosphere of peace, darkness cannot prevail. – Bill Johnson, Hosing the Presence.

First, the “Presence of peace” is Jesus Christ…peace, we know, is not the right, or the absence of the wrong, circumstances. Peace is the presence of the right Person, that is- Jesus, the Prince of Peace. As I pondered that a song or two – of course – came to mind…When Jesus comes the tempter’s power is broken ; O the peace my Saviour gives, peace I never knew before ; Jesus came with peace to me, His strong arms rescued me.

So I go back to the sentence…only in the Kingdom of God is Jesus a military tool…His presence pushes back against the power of darkness and the agents of fear that battle against us.  Oddly enough, Jesus really doesn’t have to do something…He just has to be there! Darkness, it seems, cannot gain a foothold in our lives when the Presence is there. In these days of pandemic and the ongoing consequences attempt to bring in the darkness, I find that the presence of Jesus is our strategic advantage…Turn your eyes upon Jesus-Look full in his wonderful face-And the things (the darkness) of the earth will grow strangely dim-In the light of His glory and grace.

The “peace” that the Presence brings doesn’t really make sense…and it isn’t supposed to because God said His ways are not ours and His thoughts are not ours…or as the saying goes -if we can understand it, God wasn’t in it, There is a second thought that strikes me…whenever God highlights a word or a phrase…pay attention because it is going to show up in a dozen or two places. There is another song…Peace of mind is hard to find-Lots of worries in this heart of mine and I can remember the day that God overpowered that thought and graciously told me…if that is the case then – take every one of those thoughts as a prisoner and present them to God.

Then He reminded me of two verses…And the God of peace will swiftly pound Satan to a pulp under your feet! And the wonderful favour of our Lord Jesus will surround you. – Romans 16:20 TPT…For the kingdom of God is not a matter of rules about food and drink, but it is the realm of the Holy Spirit, filled with righteousness, peace, and joy. – Romans 14:17 TPT. Here is one more thought…every peace-filled moment you experience brings terror to the powers of darkness – Bill Johnson, Hosting the Presence.

Let “peace as the Presence” fill you today – be blessed!
