A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 6th Wednesday

Greetings to you in the name of “The Friend of Sinners”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour…and my friend! It looks like another “warm” day in the Kingdom…so our chance to “be cool!” in our actions, attitudes, and words. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to manifest His presence to you as He walks with you and shares the plans and purposes He has for you!

Have you ever moved through your day thinking you forgot something…I have, in fact, right now I am trying to remember what it is I forgot. I checked my calendar before I left home…nothing written on it. I looked at my appointment cards…nothing for today. I even searched my “honey-do list”…alas, nothing written down. I even looked in the mirror…everything seems in place and there is no string tied around my finger (not that that would make a difference!). I cannot check my smartphone as I don’t know how to use that function. I suppose that I will move through my day…trying to remember.

Oddly enough, one of the most repeated words of instruction in the Bible is – REMEMBER, and specifically, to remember what God has done, is doing, and promises to do in our lives. In my daily devotions I ‘happened’ on a selection of verses that emphasised the word – REMEMBER. “They did not remember his power–the day he redeemed them from the oppressor…” – “In spite of all this (God’s activity in their lives), they kept on sinning; in spite of all his wonders, they did not believe.” – Psalm 78:42, 32 NIV. Wow! imagine forgetting what God has done…with power…to rescue you from difficult, dangerous, and oppressing situations. In fact, not simply forgetting what happened, but not believing that it could happen again…that God is still in control.

Maybe that is what I needed to remember this morning…that I am alive because of His goodness – Thank you Father! I need to remember that He is in charge today! He has got the whole world, and my world, in His hands! – I need to remember that He is waiting for me to draw near to Him, to speak to Him, to worship Him, and to share Him with others.

Remember, forget not, do this in remembrance, remind, do not let these words depart, brought to mind…some of the words/phrases that the Bible uses. We use many methods to follow these directions – celebrate communion, sing songs and choruses, memorise verses, journal, create memorials with stones, wear crosses around our necks, come to worship gatherings, celebrate certain days, light candles, eat special meals, and carry on traditions in our own particular ways. Why? because God said that we must not forget.

So, it is really interesting to me that God would orchestrate my reading from the Psalms today…I remember the glorious miracles of days gone by, and I often think of all the wonders of old. Now I’m reaching out to You, thirsting for You like the dry, cracked ground thirsts for rain – Psalm 143:5-6  TPT.

Oh! I do remember now what it was that I was not to forget…and I did it before I left home – at least I think I did…I can’t remember.

Have a great day – be blessed!
