A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 28th Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of the One who a difference, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! another great morning in the Kingdom … although it is off to a slow start but the sun will soon show its bright smiling face. It is amazing how quickly time creeps along – this being the last week of July and the amount of daylight hours is imperceptibly diminishing. I will be praying for you today, asking Father to give you a glimpse of His activity in and around your life – family – circle of influence.

Yesterday was an interesting day – still no air-conditioning in the church and there was our prayer time for the church family at noon and then we had our “Connections” group in the evening. It was all good! I came away from our prayer time pondering a simple but profound  statement: God is big enough to take care of your smallest need. Just think about it for a moment…we are so quick to pray about the big and the overwhelming and the complex and the mind-boggling while we skip over the small, insignificant, I can handle that on my own items. Have you ever noticed how those small, it is not important, hardly worth mentioning things begin to build up and create a mess of problems?

There was a little exercise suggested that seems quite practical. First, write the letters of the alphabet: A ___________, B ___________, C ___________, and so on. Now fill in each blank with a corresponding character or title or description of God…for example: A – Almighty, B – Beautiful, C – Creator….. When you finish, take a few moments to thank God for having your life looked after with all of who He is from A to Z. God is big enough to take care of your smallest need.

Another simple and practical activity is to have a pen and paper with you so that as you pray you can write down what thoughts or names or things to remember that come to mind – there not always distractions. What you will be doing is ‘listening to God’ as He speaks to you. God is big enough to take care of your smallest need.

One more simple idea is when you are praying about the difficult situations and people in your life – imagine that you are putting your hand into the Father’s hand.Think about that for a moment – the One who can hold all the waters of the earth – oceans, seas, lakes, rivers, etc. – in His hand, can hold your hand. God is big enough to take care of your smallest need.

Have a blessed day!
