A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 23rd Thursday

Greetings to you in the beautiful, powerful, and wonderful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! another day created by God that brings us the opportunity to “rejoice and be glad in it!” Strange, whenever I write those words I feel like we are God’s “super-agents” sent out into this world to facilitate the atmosphere of praise and gratefulness!I trust that all is well with you and your family. Today I encourage you to give God a “shout-out!” for answered prayers…God is so good to us! I will be praying for you, asking Father to  move in and around your life doing things that only He can do and bringing healing-reconciliation-breakthroughs-strength-sweet release-peace beyond understanding-unspeakable joy!

This morning God interrupted my devotions with persistent and gentle reminders that He is on the move…and I haven’t been as quick to follow His lead. He wanted me to remember that He is a progressive God – He delights to lead the way, to show us the path and then to prod us forward,, and that no matter how much I think I know and am comfortable with…there is more! He reminded me of a favourite song…that I haven’t paid much attention to. The words say: Have you on the Lord believed-Still there’s more to follow-Of his grace have you received-Still there’s more to follow…More and more, more and more-Always more to follow-O his matchless, boundless love-Still there’s more to follow …Philip Paul Bliss.

There is always more…but there are times when I conveniently forget. I guess I get comfortable…what about you? Are you interested in “more” of what God has to give. I am reminded of one of my favourite Bible verse…in the top 100 or so at least: You make known to me the path of life; you fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand…-Now you’ve got my feet on the life path, all radiant from the shining of your face. Ever since you took my hand, I’m on the right way. – Psalm 16:11 NIV/The Message. I need to understand that my faith in God should lead me forward…to more. Is He trying to lead you forward? Is He telling you that there is more?

I am thinking that one of the challenges of this season we are in is to grow in our faith…in our relationship with God and to learn/understand more of His Word. There are dozens of voices speaking ideas and theories and sharing teachings from different sources…it is important that we know what God is saying and has said.We need to nurture our relationship with God…He has not changed nor has his truth. The context of the above Psalm is not that He ‘showed’ us some outdated  way of life but He is constantly showing us the right way. He is like the most deluxe GPS you can get that updates the content every moment as it is needed.

Something to think about…be blessed…receive His “more”
