A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 23rd Friday

Greetings to you…His living stones, His peculiar people, His royal priesthood…in the beautiful name of Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a lovely morning in the Kingdom! This must be a “day that the Lord has made, so we will rejoice and be glad in it!”  I trust that you are having a good week, keeping healthy, and enjoying all the blessings that the Father has delivered to you. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to encourage you with grace and mercy and peace…may He release his healing energy to you…may He refresh your hope and renew your spirit.

For the past fifteen plus years, I have been on a journey…a prayer walk, if you will, with a gathering of brothers and sisters. We pray about many things and for many people, but I suppose the most passionate prayers have been for revival…and not just as it relates to the church. In 2 Chronicles 7:14 we are told that revival will affect our “land” – our nation, our province, our county, our city. The fervency of these prayers have a little bit of “ebb and flow” depending on the spiritual atmosphere. It would seem that at this moment we sense that there is a change in the atmosphere beginning to take place…so the intensity of prayers has increased.

So, this morning, being Friday morning and the day that new songs are released it was a blessing to be reminded of a song from one of my favorite groups. The groups is called – “Rend Collective” and they are from Ireland. They are a passionate ‘collection’ of young people who seem to be interpreting the flight of the “Wild Goose” – Holy Spirit. This morning they shared a song and here is one of the verses: ” Set your church on fire-Let the darkness fear-Show your mighty hand-Heal our streets and land-Set your church on fire-Win this nation back-Change the atmosphere-Build your kingdom here, we pray.”

Not just words of a song but a passionate plea…we need revival in our land and in the context of Scripture…revival must start with the church. Now, when I say “church” – I mean “you and me” with our brothers and sisters worshipping with music and prayers and service and with the Living Word. If we are going to experience a change in the atmosphere we need to – sing it out and speak it out and pray it out and serve it out. I know that we are living in troubled times and it is discouraging – but, we need to get excited…and happy. I appreciate this quote: I don’t sing because I am happy, I am happy because I sing – William James. Let me play with that…we are not praying because the atmosphere is changing, the atmosphere is changing because we are praying…or change “praying” and put in worshiping or serving or surrendering!

Just something to think about…be blessed.
