A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 18th Tuesday

Greetings to you on this beautiful morning in the Kingdom! You know, I am sure, that this is the day that the Lord has made and we need to rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday…and that you are looking for more of God’s daily provision and perhaps a few unexpected blessings. Today I will be praying for you, asking Father for a fresh touch of His hand on your body and mind and spirit…may He bring you a divine appointment – an opportunity to share your faith with someone.

This past Sunday we read a verse that said: “What sort of new teaching is this?” they asked excitedly. “It has such authority!” – (Mark 1:27 NLT). Twice in the passage we read the phrase: He (Jesus) taught with authority – real authority…and the people were amazed. Now I believe that¬† sort of explained it…a bit. However this morning it seemed to be nagging me and then God turned on a light and reminded me of a very important truth.

In the opening verses of John’s Gospel we are told…”In the beginning the Word (teaching) already existed. The Word (teaching) was with God, and the Word (teaching) was God. He (the Word-the teaching) existed in the beginning with God…The Word (the teaching) gave life to everything that was created…So the Word (the teaching) became human and made his home among us…”(John 1:1,2,4,14¬† NLT).

Of course Jesus taught with authority…he was not giving secondhand information or trying to puta spin on something he read or was told to him. With authority, he was sharing himself, he was giving life through spoken words. Oddly enough he waas teaching the Word that had brought into being all of creation…in many ways he was teaching the people what they had never heard before even though they had heard it from their spiritual leaders. No wonder they were amazed!

Let me go one step further…I believe there are times when we are reading or hearing the Word (the teaching) that we were experiencing it as if had never existed before even though it has. In many places within the Word (the teaching) we are told that every morning things are made new…even the Word. I know that we have all had that moment in our devotions or in reading the Bible. We come across a verse that simply appears in front of us and we remark that we had never noticed it before. I guess what I am trying to say is that Jesus Christ, the Living Word of God still teaches us with authority and it continues to amaze us,

Just a little something to think about on a Tuesday…be blessed!
