Greetings to you in the name of the “Burden-Bearer”, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! What a wonderful morning in the Kingdom! Have you taken the opportunity to “rejoice and be glad” and specifically gave God a least five expressions of gratitude…okay, let us try: “Dear God, I thank You for ________________!” …do that four more times! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday. Okay, here is the question: are you looking forward to the week ahead and the adventure that will come with it? Today I will be giving thanks to God for each one who reads this blog…and I will be praying for you, asking Father to bring healing, hope, peace, and joy into your life.
Recently I had a conversation with someone who called me to task. I had made a comment about giving thanks for answered prayers and my friend wanted to know if that should include giving thanks for ‘unanswered’ prayers. In the conversation, I was reminded that when God does not answer prayer — “deferred hope makes the heart sick!” – Proverbs 13:12.
My friend shared an experience of unanswered prayer…the heartsickness of disappointment and how it has left a scar on his heart and created space between God and himself. My friend was looking for an easy answer or at least, a magical formula, a three-step recipe for responding but I knew there isn’t such a thing. However, I knew from personal experience that in moments like this God does what He does best…He gives Himself as the answer. He gives personal, intimate expressions of His presence.
I have learned, as I have followed God, that when He seems to disappoint…like unanswered prayer…there is a response that I have. Although I learned this some time ago, it was brought to my attention in my devotional reading today. Here is the response: Jesus–I invite your love into my disappointment of these prayers that have gone unanswered. Show me what You are up to. I trust You. I love You. John Eldredge, Restoration Year. One of the great promises of God that I rely on is that…”call on Me and I will answer…draw close to me and I will draw close to You…seek me and you will find Me!”
Just a little something to ponder…have a blessed day!
