A Church with a Heart for our Community

July 13th Tuesday

Greetings to you in the name that gives us access to the ‘throne-room’, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Savior! What a lovely morning in the Kingdom! I think this is our “new Normal” as far as the weather goes – but, it is still that day that the Lord has made for us…so, let us rejoice and be glad in it! I trust that you had a good weekend and Monday with lots of blessings to talk about. This morning I will be praying for you, asking Father to surround you with His wrap-around love and to fill you with a peace that goes beyond explanation and to infuse you with a joy that has nothing to do with your circumstances and to release His amazing grace to you.

I think we are living in a time that is best defined by the opening lines of a book…”It was the best of times and it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness…” – The Tale of Two Cities. It seems like nothing makes sense. I think of a line in another book…”what sort of tale have we fallen into?” – The Hobbit. Even God says to us in Scripture…”My ways are not your ways, my thoughts are not your thoughts…” Isaiah 55:8-9.

What does one do to try and make sense of all the uncertainty and unpredictability? Each morning as I start my prayers, in simple trust I thank God that in the midst of all that is challenging us each day I can grasp the one thing that has not  changed…and won’t change —the Word of God – Holy Scripture – The Bible. This morning as I did that, a song came to mind…of course it did!

There is a story that goes with this song that I often reference–and God knew that I needed reminding. A theologian by the name of Karl Barth was attending and speaking at a conference. He was asked to state what he felt the most profound truth from Scripture that he had discovered. With hardly a hesitation, he smiled and said…”Jesus loves this I know, for the Bible tells me so.”

In the midst of our confused and confusing world–Jesus loves us this we know for the Bible tells us so! In the midst our uncertain and troubling days – Jesus loves us this we know for the Bible tells us so! In the times of isolation and loneliness when we have lost our purpose – Jesus loves us this we know for the Bible tells us so! When fear and despair lurk in our thoughts – Jesus loves us this we know for the Bible tells us so! When we experience those moments of peace, and when joy  bubbles up – Jesus loves us this we know for the Bible tells us so!

A little something to ponder…be blessed!
