A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 9th Thursday

Greetings to you in the wonderful name of Jesus – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! another beautiful morning in the Kingdom…and we have received a ‘wake-up call’ so that we can – first, so we can rejoice and be glad in it, second, make sure we don’t waste it, and third, bless someone today on behalf of the Lord. Just stop for a moment…who can you bless today that would not be expecting it? Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to bless you with a burst of energy, a severe reduction in worries, and an unquenchable desire to smile.

Yesterday was our first Wednesday – ‘Eat, Talk and Pray’ for 2020 and it was great to pray for our church family, especially those that we knew needed an extra shot of grace. Of course, it was good to reflect over the last two weeks or so and give thanks for prayer that had been answered and for blessings received. Later in the afternoon I could not help but visualise the scene in Revelation chapter five – the golden bowls in heaven filled with incense…which was the prayers of the saints waiting to be spilled out and answered. Once again I was reminded about the importance of praying faithfully, week after week and allowing the prayers to accumulate in a “golden bowl” ready to be tipped out for the glory of God.

As well, I had the privilege of treading on ‘holy ground’ as I spent a few moments visiting at the funeral home.. It was humbling to observe God’s hand at work even in difficult times. First, to understand the answers to prayers that healed a man’s body in a definitive way that removed sickness and pain. Second, to see God’s comfort and strength being released to people mourning, through the support and kindness of family and friends expressing themselves with hugs, handshakes, smiles, and words. God works in mysterious ways…He certainly does…His wonders to perform.

One other, answer to prayer – I arrived home to find a ‘blessing-bag’ on our door step. A kind friend had chosen to be God’s response to “give us this day our daily bread” and we even got cabbage-rolls with it. How good is that! Oddly enough, yesterday was God’s answer to my morning prayer…”God, I want to see your face today!” I am learning afresh how important it is to be alert for “God-sightings.”

May you see God’s face today!
