A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 24th Thursday

Greetings to you in the name of the one who draws us ever closer to Himself, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! Wow! another good looking winter’s day…I wonder if God ever gets tired or bored with the ongoing process of creation – I hope not! Today I will be praying for you, asking Father to release the power of Holy Spirit to you in undeniable ways so that you can see “the increase” that is on the way, so that you can see God at work in your family!

Knowing how much I would appreciate it and that I would give thanks for and that I would probably tell people about it – just like I am doing right now…God directed my attention to a selection of “quotes” from a new-to-me source. They began with:Leaders who are fearful and ignorant of the gifts and the person of the Holy Spirit…limit what God can do. – Greg Mohr, Flowing in the Supernatural,

I think that I will simply give them to you to ponder and to let God minister through them to you to respond to. The next quote: I have learned that prayer is not asking what you think you want but asking to be changed in ways you can’t imagine. To be made more grateful, more able to see the good in what you have been given instead of always grieving for what might have been People who are in the habit of praying–and they include the mystics of the Christian tradition–know that when a prayer is answered, it is never in a way that you expect. – Kathleen Norris, Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary of Faith.

Next: But in order to have faith, most of us have to outgrow and unlearn much of what we were taught about religion. – Kathleen Norris, The Cloister Walk

Next: This is a God who is not identified with the help of a dictionary but through a relationship.  Kathleen Norris, Amazing Grace: A Vocabulary of Faith

Next: Monastic people have long known–and I’ve experienced it in a small way myself–that the communal reciting, chanting. and singing of the Psalms brings a unique sense of wholeness and order to their day, and even establishes the rhythm of their lives.  Kathleen Norris, The Cloister Walk

Finally: “This is another day, O Lord…if I am to stand up, help me to stand bravely – if I am to sit still, help me to sit quietly – if I am to lie low, help me do it patiently – And if I am to do nothing, let me do it gallantly.” – Kathleen Norris.

Have a great day – be blessed!,
