A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 22nd Thursday

Greetings in the name of “El – Gibbor (The Mighty God)” and Jesus Christ – THE Crucified and Risen Saviour! What a beautiful and gentle morning in the Kingdom! I woke this morning with a sense that there is going to be significance in this day for someone — maybe it’s you! I will be praying for you today, asking Father to approach you in a deliberate way so that you will understand and be able to respond to Him.

Today is one of those “non-velcro” days…when thoughts don’t seem to stick in one place and God seems strangely quiet this morning. I tried listening to some music – even samples from a new ‘cd’ or two but no interruptions. Perhaps this is God saying: “Be still, and know that I am God!” … and maybe I need to let the words of a song speak: Be still my soul! the Lord is on thy side – bear patiently the cross of grief or pain – Leave to thy God to order and provide – In every change He faithful will remain – Be still, my soul! thy best, thy heavenly Friend – Thro’ thorny ways leads to a joyful end … Katharina von Schlegel.

Are you with me? Do you ever have those days where life isn’t coming together in any particular, definitive way? … Now I can ‘hear’ the words of another song: Be still for the presence of the Lord – The Holy One is here … Be still for the glory of the Lord is shining all around – He burns with holy fire – With splendour He is crowned … Be still for the power of the Lord  is moving in this place – He comes to cleanse and heal – To minister His grace – No work too hard for Him – In faith receive from Him – Be still for the power of the Lord is moving in this place.

There is a transformation happening…it is humbling and refreshing. God is reminding me, and maybe you, that He really doesn’t need my help, my effort, my frantic activity, my frenzied thoughts, my verbal overflow. God is pointing me to a place of surrender, a place where He can cleanse and heal and minister, a place where His light is shining, a place where He reveals His presence, a place where He empowers, a place where He mends….and I am in that place once again!

Be blessed!
