A Church with a Heart for our Community

January 20th Frid ay

Greetings to you in the name of the One who revealed and reveals God the Father to us, Jesus Christ – THE Risen Saviour! What a morning we have been given – a mixture of rain, wind, and clouds, I think it is a test to see what we will do with it, make from it. I trust that you have had a good week with lots of positive things happening around you and good people to interact with. Today I will be praying, asking Father to stir into your heart and spirit a holy anticipation to be with your Christian family for the worship gathering. I believe that God is poised to manifest Himself in very unique ways…and it might be this weekend!

I have tried to make it a daily habit to face each day with decisiveness based on three assumptions. First, this day that is ahead of me has been beautifully and thoughtfully prepared for me by my Heavenly Father. Second, He has promised to be my companion throughout the day if I will allow Him to and invite Him to. Third, when I am inviting Him into my day I need to approach Him with a good attitude and an openness to His active presence.

I  use Scripture to be my guideline in this matter: Let us come before him with thanksgiving and extol him with music and song…Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel  before the Lord our Maker for he is our God…Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever, his faithfulness continues through all generations…Open for me the gates of righteousness; I will enter and give thanks to the Lord. This is the gate of the Lord through which the righteous may enter. I will give you thanks, for you answered me; you have become my salvation–This is the day that the Lord has made; let us [let me] rejoice and be glad in it.  — Psalm 95:2,6; 100:4,5; 118:19-21,24.

Every morning I get to choose what direction my day will go and who will be in charge. Often someone will encourage me or greet me with a – “Have a good day!” …and when I have made the right choice, I can say: “I am going to–I have already decided!” The early morning decision affects my whole day and the way I interact with the people I meet and how I respond to life. Actually–let me share a little secret: your early morning decision has the same impact for you. Joshua challenged the Israelites  at a particular point with: Choose you this day whom you will serve…  Joshua 24:15. You can always reinforce yourself by singing: I have decided to follow Jesus, no turning back!

Have a great weekend…be blessed!
